Genesis 1:2

Now the earth was formless and empty,

darkness was over the surface of the deep,

and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

"Darkness Was Over the Surface of the Deep"

Acrylic paint and gold ink on handmade paper

From Genesis 1:3-31

1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light….

1:6-7 And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.”

So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above….

God called the expanse “sky.”...

1:9 And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place, so that the dry land may appear.”...

1:11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation....”

1:14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night,

and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years....”

1:20 And God said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth

in the open expanse of the sky....”

1:24, 26 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures”…

Then God said, “Let us make a human in Our image, after Our likeness....”

1:31 And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good.

Genesis 18:9-13

“Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked. “There, in the tent,” he replied. Then one said,

“I will surely return to you at this time next year, and your wife Sarah will have a son!”

Now Sarah was behind him, listening at the entrance to the tent. And Abraham and Sarah were already old and well along in years; Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.

So she laughed to herself, saying,

“After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?”

And the LORD asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh

and say, ‘Can I really bear a child when I am old?’

Is anything too wonderful for the LORD?

At the appointed time I will return to you—in about a year—and Sarah will have a son.”

Genesis 28:10-13

Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. On reaching a certain place,

he spent the night there because the sun had set.

And taking one of the stones from that place,

he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.

And Jacob had a dream about a ladder that rested on the earth

with its top reaching up to heaven,

and God’s angels were going up and down the ladder.

And there at the top, the Lord was standing and saying,

“I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac.

I will give you and your descendants the land on which you now lie.”
